IBS irritable bowel syndrome.
What is irritable bowel syndrome?
Symptoms of IBS include abdominal discomfort or pain, usually in the lower abdomen; the location and intensity are variable, even at different times within the same person. There may be a change to your normal bowel habit; a change in frequency or consistency, chronic or recurrent diarrhoea or constipation. Irritable bowel syndrome can be a very debilitating problem holding people back from enjoying the full life style they desire.
They may be unable to work, attend social events, or even travel short distances. Up to 20% of the adult population has symptoms of IBS, which appears more often in women than men. High levels of stress and tension cause can cause the symptoms of IBS to increase, quiet often making it impossible for the sufferer to leave their house.
